2014年，慧光法師為弘揚佛法並改善當地人的生活，成立尼泊爾菩薩沙彌學院，收留第一批貧困家庭的孩子。當年的小沙彌（參見《一所生命的學校》）如今已成為偉岸青年，不僅成為慧光法師的助手，幫忙照顧更小的沙彌，甚至已能獨當一面主持會議、安排活動，在討論事情時，表達出自己的見解。

在慧光法師身邊學習多年、肩負起菩薩寺內外運作的本書作者葉本殊監寺，一路看著沙彌們的成長，從原本的擔憂、抗拒，到年復一年為學院及教育的各種需要奔走，她最明白這些生命的亮光原本灰暗的模樣，以及在尼泊爾建校的每一步，光師父都克服了多少艱難。

光師父說，「風塵僕僕，就是菩薩的樣子。」

本書記錄疫情後期至今沙彌們的日常生活，以及他們與一般學生相同及不同的學習。此外收錄了十幾位沙彌的自述，請他們介紹自己最喜歡的學院角落，年紀較長的沙彌都已能用中文書寫，儘管文法不全然正確，但能感受到他們的心。

光師父說，辦教育是千年的願望。這一生做不完，就來生，來生做不完，就三生。當你心裡沒有邊際，你就不會累。

一如周遭的人總是聽到師父爽朗的笑聲，困難愈大，師父笑得愈大聲。在這本書裡，在作者的文字及沙彌的日常身影中，我們彷彿也能聽到那笑聲。尼泊爾很美，支持生命、看到生命的成長，更美。
