"Pema Gyalsen"
Pema was trained under the 9th generation Thangka master - Tenzin Dhargay. The master-disciple duo have been invited by monasteries and the Nepal National Museum multiple times to create mural paintings, Thangka paintings, and to restore Buddha statues. Pema is currently a Thangka painting instructor at the IBS Sramanera School of Nepal.
When asked about his views on Thangka and his future vision, Pema stated firmly:
"I was once a monk, so I deeply understand the value of Thangka in the Buddhist Dharma. Thangka is not just an art piece, each Thangka must be painted according to the proper methods - it is for the use of practitioners in their Buddhist spiritual practice and devotions, not merely to cater to modern aesthetics. I hope people can better understand the profound Dharma meaning contained within Thangka paintings.
