"In a painting, there is poetry; in a poem, there hides a painting" is a characteristic of Teacher Xu Zhi's artworks.
With themes like "Spring Breeze Along Ten Miles," "Autumn Water and Mountain Scenery," and "Intoxicated Moon Fragrance," poetry and painting intertwine through his depictions, conveying an elegant and tranquil Zen-like realm.
While proficient in traditional green landscape techniques, he creates a refined, lively, and detached spiritual space within his paintings through subdued color schemes, allowing viewers to escape the hustle and bustle of the real world. Roaming within his artworks is akin to entering a separate realm amidst the fast-paced life, where one can observe mountains, listen to water, and find tranquility within.
Teacher Xu Zhi's preference and distinctive feature lie in the "blue tone." Masterfully employing subtle variations of blue hues, he utilizes layered dyeing with mineral and plant pigments to craft a mysterious and rich unique color language.

About Xuzizhi:
Xuzizhi, pen name Yi-Liao, began learning to draw and studied Chinese classics since childhood. At the age of sixteen, he learned seal carving from a famous teacher. Later, he met the Venerable Miaozhan, abbot of South Putuo Temple, by chance and became connected to Buddhism. Many of his works depict Buddhist statues and seals, which have been collected by those with affinity in Japan and Southeast Asia. His Buddha seal imprints are made from materials such as Agalmatolite, Qingtian stone, and Balin stone. They are vividly shaped and dignified in appearance. The author wishes to use the stones to transmit the Buddha's teachings and to cultivate himself, spreading his work to those with knowledge and affinity.
